Grief is not a single emotion, and it does not move in a straight line. A hard day can contain a beautiful moment. A happy occasion can bring an ache. You do not need to choose one feeling and deny the other.
If joy arrives, you are allowed to welcome it without treating it as a betrayal. If sadness returns, you do not have to apologize for that either. Your inner life can hold more than one truth.
Perhaps the invitation is not to replace grief with joy, but to let life gradually become wide enough to hold them both.
Take what is useful to you and leave what is not. There is no single belief or response required here.
